A Little Bit About What I Do...
What is Tarot?
First things first, what is Tarot? Tarot was originally invented as a card game in the 15th-century. It has 78 cards, all with different meanings. However, now it is mainly used for self-reflection and gaining insight into a person's past, present, life patterns, and challenges. I use Tarot as a tool for mindfulness, therapeutic support, self-discovery, and personal growth.
Why Do People Come For Readings?
People tend to get tarot and astrology readings for guidance, self-reflection, and clarity on big questions in their life. Using the skills learned through my Level 3 Counselling Diploma, we will discuss areas in your life through new perspectives and view any challenges together.
Common Questions I Get Asked
There are many reasons why people overthink. Common reasons include fear of the future, perfectionism and anxiety. It's important to remember, your brain wants to keep you alive, not make you happy. Overthinking is a way to prepare yourself for any situation, but it won't make you happy in the present.
Why Do I Overthink Everything?
How To Stop Thinking About Thinking
Mindfulness is key here. Let your thoughts flow without judgement and bring your attention towards what you are presently doing. Have compassion with yourself and let your thoughts pass. Acknowledge what you are thinking, then let it sweep away. Remember - thoughts are not facts.
How To Clear Your Brain
Immediate distractions can be good for this (exercise, listening to music, etc.), but this isn't always possible. My advice is to avoid overstimulation. When you're naturally someone who gets a crowded mind, it's important to not overload it with unnecessary clutter. Tarot readings are great ways to get everything out of your head and give it a tidy up!
How Can I Have a Calm Mind?
It's all well and good to say to practice mindfulness by deep breathing and being in nature, but in all honesty consistent effort is one of the best ways to achieve a calm mind. It's not easy when you're susceptible to a cluttered mind. So creating new habits like journaling and positive self-talk takes time. Try to find what works best for you, as everyone is different.
What is Cognitive Reframing?
Cognitive reframing is a psychological technique to change negative thought patterns with more positive ones. It is often used in CBT and can drastically improve emotional well-being by offering a different perspective and reducing stress. If you often view your life in a 'black and white' way of thinking, this technique allows you to view life in a more empowering way.
